I've found that many people are coming into this site with the intention of learning how to do a write-in vote for Hillary Clinton for President in the November election. Please note that in order for write-in votes to actually count for the office of President in New York State, the candidate must file with the New York State Board of Elections a form that allows him or her to be listed as an official write-in candidate. This is because we don't vote directly for the Presidential candidate but rather for the Presidential electors, which is why no form is needed for other offices.
This form, which would contain the names of those Presidential electors, can only be filed with the approval of the candidate, and since Ms. Clinton has already endorsed Barack Obama, it's a given that she will not be listed as an official write-in candidate in New York State. This means that if you write her name in, the New York State Board of Elections will not tabulate the number of write-in votes that she received. What will happen is that all of her votes will be mixed in with all of the other votes for non-certified write-in Presidential candidates, and will be reported as one total under the "Other" column.
This is not being written to disuade you from writing her name in, but rather to tell you exactly what will happen to your write-in vote, as this site is party and candidate neutral and does not make endorsements of any kind. I consider it far more important that you get out and vote rather than who you actually vote for. If what will happen to your write-in vote for Ms. Clinton doesn't bother you, then by all means, write her name in. If you still can't bring yourself to vote for the candidates of the two main parties, but want your vote to actually be counted a little more accurately, then please click on this link to find out the names of the other Presidential candidates that are running in New York State. With a minimal amount of research, you should be able to find an alternative candidate that you can cast your vote for.
